The workstation for people who follow ships for a living

The public site answers one question about one ship. The Terminal is for watching many at once: a live map, your watchlists, port arrival boards, a screener over every ship with a live position, the sanctions record behind each one and the traffic through the world's chokepoints. Every panel is linked, so picking a ship anywhere shows it everywhere.

No card needed. Once per account. If you don't subscribe, your workspaces are kept.

A read-only Terminal on real, live data: a port board, a sanctions screen, a chokepoint and the cruise fleet. Nothing to fill in.

The Seadar Terminal in its dark theme: a live map of the English Channel with the container ship Ever Alp selected and its 24-hour track, the vessel dossier (tonnage, owner, operator, ISM manager, builder), a watchlist of six liners and the live event tape of port departures.
Marine Operations, the first workspace: live map, event tape, dossier and watchlist. Real data from the live Terminal, captured Sep 24, 2026.

Pick a ship once. Every panel follows.

Click a ship in your watchlist, the screener, a port board or the tape, and the map flies to it, the dossier opens its record and the tape narrows to its events. Right-click any name for one menu: open the dossier, show or follow it on the map, add it to a watchlist, copy the IMO or open its public page.

Three clicks in a watchlist: the map, dossier and event tape follow each ship.

What you do in it

Watch your fleet

Put the ships you care about on watchlists and see them on the live map with position, speed, status and how old each fix is. The dossier beside the map has particulars, owner, operator, ISM manager and builder, inspections, sanctions, emissions and history, each with its source.

Run a port board

Arrivals and departures for the last 48 hours, detected from AIS, with ships in port, 24-hour counts and congestion against normal. Click any ship on the board or the harbour map to open its dossier.

Rotterdam's board: pick an arrival or departure and the dossier opens while the harbour map flies to the ship.

Screen the whole fleet

Filter every ship with a live position by name, type, flag, status, speed, how recently it was seen and sanctions list, then sort by tonnage, length or age and choose your columns. The map and dossier follow your selection.

One filter narrows every ship with a live position to the sanctioned ones; each pick shows on the map.

Check sanctions exposure

Screen for ships on the lists we publish (EU, UK, US OFAC, Canada and others) and follow identity changes, such as new names, call signs and MMSIs, as they are broadcast. Every designation shows the list, the date and a link to verify it at source.

Watch the chokepoints

Suez, Panama, the Bosphorus, Kiel, Singapore, Gibraltar and Dover on one board: transits in the last 24 hours and 7 days by direction, ships in the passage now, ships queued at either end and the ports on each side. Every ship in the list opens its dossier.

Transits, ships in the passage and queues for each chokepoint, with every ship one click from its record and its track.

Every ship, port, company, flag and sanctions list is a link. Right-click an owner to see its whole fleet on the map, click a flag or a list to filter the screener, or open a port's board from a ship's last call. Workspaces, templates and panels in new windows keep a multi-monitor setup in one place.

Beyond ships

Pro includes boards beyond the fleet, in the same linked workspace. They come from official and open sources, each shown with its source and when it last updated. They live in the Terminal only.

Air operations
US airspace at a glance: FAA ground stops, ground delay programs and airport closures, runway configurations, METARs for the major hubs and active SIGMETs. Open any airport for its weather, runways and the ports nearby. Private aircraft owners are never named.
Cargo and trade
Official port throughput in tonnes and TEU with year-on-year change and a league of the ports we hold figures for, UK seaport trade by partner and commodity, US grain export inspections and the ships that loaded them, and the forced-labour lists (CBP orders and the UFLPA Entity List).
Launch schedule
Upcoming and recent orbital launches with their window, vehicle, pad and outcome, and this year's launches by agency.
Border crossings
US land border wait times by crossing and lane.

Who it's for

  • Operators, agents and charterers watching a fleet or a port: who arrived, who left, who is late.
  • Compliance and KYC analysts checking a ship's designations, identity changes and ownership, with the source for each.
  • Brokers, traders and analysts who need the fleet, the ports and the chokepoints at once, not one page at a time.
  • Journalists and researchers following a story across ships, owners and sanctions lists.

What it is not

  • No satellite AIS. Positions come from terrestrial receivers, so ships far offshore can go quiet until they are back in range. The age of every fix is shown.
  • Chokepoint counts are lower bounds from the ships we receive. Where recent observations are unavailable, including gaps at Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb, the board shows an unavailable state rather than zero traffic.
  • Official statistics lag. Port throughput, trade and grain figures are monthly or quarterly, as published.
  • Information only. Not for navigation or flight planning, and not a substitute for your own due diligence on sanctions.
  • Pro is for one person and for use in your own work. Redistributing the data in a product needs an API plan; see the plans.

Questions

Do I need a card for the trial?
No. The 14-day Pro trial starts with one click, once per account, and nothing is charged. If you don't subscribe, your workspaces and watchlists are kept, read-only, until you do.
What is the difference between Terminal Lite and the full Terminal?
Terminal Lite comes with Plus: Marine only, one workspace and up to four panels from the map, dossier, watchlist, port monitor and event tape. Pro is the full Terminal: the screener, bulk sanctions screening, chokepoints, the boards beyond ships, map layers, exports and as many workspaces as you like.
Where does the data come from?
Terrestrial AIS from open networks and our own receivers, public registers and official sources. Each fact shows its source and when we last checked it. See how Seadar works.
Can I use it for my company?
Yes, in your own work: Pro includes internal business use (decisions, reports, internal tools), not redistribution. Shared workspaces and team watchlists come with Terminal Team; putting the data into a product others use needs an API plan. See the plans.
Does it work on several monitors?
Yes. Any panel opens in its own window and stays linked to the workspace, and workspaces are saved to your account, so they open the same on any computer.
Is it dark or light?
Both. The Terminal starts dark and follows the light, dark or system choice you make here or in the Terminal.
