GHANA: On 3 October at 0024 local time, four perpetrators in a local canoe approached an anchored container ship at Takoradi Anchorage, near position 04-53N 001-40W. After coming alongside the vessel, two of the perpetrators boarded the container ship and were spotted by the duty crew who raised the alarm. With the ship’s crew alerted, the two robbers escaped with ship’s properties. The container ship notified local port authorities, and a security vessel moved to the ship’s location.

The perpetrators abandoned the boarding attempt and fled after the ship’s alarm was raised. The same vessel was the target of an attempted boarding on 5 August.

Crew spotted the canoe as it came alongside the starboard side of the vessel. The perpetrators fled after the ship’s alarm was raised.

GHANA: On 10 July at 0035 local time, two robbers boarded the anchored Portugal-flagged bulk carrier UAL OSPREY at Takoradi Anchorage, near position 04-53N 001-41W. The duty crew reported that razor wire on the forward, port side had been partly removed and they spotted two perpetrators on the upper deck. The bridge sounded the alarm, the crew mustered, and the ship notified port control. Upon hearing the alarm and seeing the crew’s alertness, the perpetrators escaped into a waiting blue wooden

GHANA: On 28 June at 0055 local time, three robbers boarded an anchored cargo ship at Takoradi Anchorage, near position 04-53N 001-38W. The robbers were seen lowering paint buckets down the side of the vessel into a boat. The alarm was raised, crew mustered, and port control was notified. Following a search of the ship it was discovered that ship’s stores had been stolen, including twelve drums of paint.

GHANA: On 2 March at 0236 local time, a robber boarded the anchored Denmark-flagged product tanker NORD STINGRAY near position 04-53N 001-41W at Takoradi Anchorage. The duty crew noticed the robber near the forecastle and raised the alarm. After hearing the alarm, the robber fled the vessel and escaped with stolen ship’s stores. The incident was reported to Takoradi port control, and the Ghanaian Navy sent a patrol boat to search the area.
